Amazon as a daily
Discussion
So I am facing up to ULEZ in Shepherds Bush. My defender 110 xs is non compliant. Owned since new, Exmoor leather seats, Ashcroft auto conversion, 110k and probably another 110k left in it. We have a snall holding and i jave had pigs sheep hay feed barbed wire fencing dogs cats in the nack if it. Always hoped to drive it to China with the wife when I retired.
Now going to cost me £400 per month.
Pondered waiting on an Ineos Grenadier, hate the new defender - am sure its a great car but 60 grand???
Considering waving 2 fingers and buying an Amazon Kombi.
Any views on them I used my TR5 daily for 5 years inc commuting...reckon a sorted one would get to Beijing?

GO for it !!!
Superb cars.
Highly rated as one / if not, of the Best Police cars, in their day / ever.
Hampshire police used “ Ruddpeed “ tweaked Amazon’s, from 1965, racking up many miles @ high speeds without any engine problems.
They carried a huge load as they were used as accident cars.
I would source a LHD example from Europe. Way less corrosion than a U.K. car ( if you could even find a U.K. supplied one )
Feel for you re your Land Rover, what a bloody £££ CON !!

Huge load that the Amazon carried, which included a portable generator.
You could easily sleep in the back of an Amazon.
Pretty sure that a rally prepared Amazon saloon was featured in the 1980s car magazine that the Late author Phillip Young, founder of the new Peking to Paris Rally, edited ??
