Struggling to groom my cats underside..help

I have a Persian around 7 months old now and he has never allowed us to brush his chest/belly area. Now as you can imagine it is all matted and he wont allow us to even cut it. He doesn't mind the rest of his body being groomed just not underneath. Can anyone give me any suggestions how to sort this or is it off to a groomers to try and shave him?

Groomers or vets under light sedation I'm afraid.

It doesn't bode well for the breeder you bought the cat from, if that was the case, not having handled it properly in the crucial first 4 weeks.

Wear gloves and get it shaved but be as gentle as possible. After this you'll need to try to build up his trust for the future. Can somebody hold him by the scruff of the neck, just as a parent would hold a kitten?

The groomer I use grooms a load of cats and puts films up her doing it on face book . It seems to be a bit of a speciality for her and I know she enters grooming competitions here and in the USA with cats . I notice when she grooms them she always has her iPad open with a screen saver of fish swimming around lol. Might be worth a try ?
