A motorist who claimed to have broken the record for the fastest car journey between John o’ Groats and Land’s End used speed-camera sensors and fake number plates to avoid detection, a court was told yesterday.

What an idiot although the scanner part is incorrect. You can't listen in to Police radios as they're encrypted. You can have devices that detect TETRA frequencies but there would be so many false positives they're not worth the cost. Also, many other agencies use TETRA and Airwave too. Not just the Police.
To average 87 mph, when there are plenty of roads in Scotland and Cornwall where it's not dual carriageway or motorway, would mean that he was doing really stupid speeds for plenty of the journey.
Then when you factor in the fact that he must have done it through the night, without rest breaks, means that fatigue would have been a significant factor.
Put those two things together and you've got a very dangerous combination.
What a tool.

From what I understand though, reading between the lines here - it seems that a majority of regular posters like to be a
holes (and quite openly so) towards other members and so I suppose it shouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility that someone on this forum would take great pleasure in reporting someone else on this forum to the police. Probably thought himself as a self appointed warrior of justice.I grew up in a very rough neighbourhood. We never "snitched" as you call it. In South London in the late 80s and early 90's I can assure you of that.
I don't agree with a victimless crime being reported by a forum member on another forum member. This isn't a child trafficking ring, it was two people of their own free will , being a bit silly in a car for one day.

If it were just the journey itself I suppose he could walk it back saying that it was just bravado and that he never did it, "prove it", etc.
But the Police seizing his car and him having 4 (?) jammers fitted and a tracker that confirms the journey.. man oh man, they're going to take him to the cleaners.

I like how he apparently waited 6 months to make the excess speed statute barred but seemingly disregarded the either way / indicatable only matters.
