A contradiction in terms maybe.

I have found plenty of good alcohol free beers from a few breweries I like the full fat offerings from (Mikkeler and Omnipollo have really put the effort in) and am covered on that front. She is more than happy with some of the Seedlip pretend gins (I admit, they are pretty good)

We have tried a couple of whites and sparklings and they get close to the real thing, one thing we have yet to find is a decent red - all of the ones we have tried have tasted like grape juice and are missing body.

Does such a thing exist, or is alcohol free red wine just something which people haven't been able to get right? Do they al just taste of communion wine?

Any recommendations?

I’ve given up even looking.

Agree on the beers, I’m even quite enjoying a few of them now I’ve got used the lack of alcohol.

White wines. Ok at best, they’re not cheap and quite sweet, so I just have the odd glass of ‘proper’ wine every now and again.

I looked at some reviews on red wines and it confirmed my thoughts, so I’ve not tried them. Interested to hear anybody else’s views.

I’ve seen the gins and was nervous about even trying them based on the wines, maybe I’ll give it a go.

Can't help on the vin rouge but lo alc (not totally free) cider is Mrs Noise's preferred.
Not the Kopparberg ("enhanced" by other) fruity ones but plain apple. She finds own brand Waitrose & Sainsbury's or Sheppy all good.
I'm not a cider drinker but they taste good to me too.

After trying a few of the beers when I stopped drinking, I've found that I quite like nice Kombucha in situations where I used to have a drink.

I've been enjoying the stuff from these guys recently.

I tried a few 0-0.5% beers, and I do like a pint of Punk AF if I'm in the pub (I think, I can't remember as it's been a year!) so I'm not dead against alcohol free booze.

But at home, I've stopped drinking substitute booze. It's massively overpriced, and doesn't even have the excuse of being taxed to justify it.

I stick to the soft-drinks aisle, and avoid the 0% section in the booze aisle.

These are a real treat: https://mrfitzpatricks.com/our-drinks/

My OH quite enjoyed a bottle of nosecco while pregnant this summer. In a buck fizz or with elderflower you'd never know you weren't drinking the real thing.

Indeed. Also, these alcohol free beers seem to be the same price as normal beer even though (I assume) there is no duty for them to pay on it,

Lime and soda is a good session AF drink, it is sharp enough that you have to sip it but tasty enough to enjoy in volume.

or tap water.

I find both Ghost Ship and Without are perfectly acceptable beers, but palatable wines have a very long way to go. I tend to only drink to accompany food.

I also think that Belvoir Ginger Cordial with fizzy water is also a very good alternative with food.
