Dealer crashed my //M Coupe during inspection II
Discussion
A few months ago, I created a thread that mentioned the above incident. That thread got out of hand.
The car is currently being repaired and the issue is disccussed here:

This is not my video but discusses my car, created by Heel'n'Toe. I thought I'd share my experience with the community.

There were a few direct responses to the original post alright, mostly saying what people would do in that situation (and suggesting you do the same). I appreciate you either didn't have the details to begin with, or any photos/video of the car, but I'm not sure what reaction you were expecting. A lot of people will post after the event (as you're doing now) when everything is resolved, mostly to avoid liability or libelling any third party.Chassis leg got a mention in the damage report... oh dear.

Indeed. It's gone to an BMW authorised repair centre, so should get repaired well.Chassis leg got a mention in the damage report... oh dear.

I do hope so. Might be worth getting a pre-purchase style inspection done on it from a knowledgeable independent (Munich Legends?) once you get it back to double check everything. If it highlights any unresolved damage, you're straight back to the offending dealer - and get them to pay for the inspection too.BFleming said:

Yes, was planning on doing so. Thanks for the suggestion.Difficult to tell from the video, but considering its had all that time and effort, do take a closer look at the driver's side front bumper to bonnet alignment......I think that needs a little fettle to get it tighter/sharper.
I couldn't see the passenger side to make a comparison, but it just looks a touch off. i.e. the arch shape should be circular obviously, yet there appears to be a step.

I think you need to understand what constitutes getting a car on the register - namely an insurance write off.- Car is being repaired - not a write off.
- Car not being repaired and the owner has accepted the insurance settlement - a write off.
It's as simple as that. The magnitude of the damage, and what it costs to put right, is irrelevant to the register, the only thing that matters is whether or not it was paid out on. A technical write-off happens when the car is so badly damaged it ends up scrapped & can't be put back on the road - the OP's car is hardly in that territory.
On appraisal of repairable damage, if that price is too high, an insurance company will probably pay out instead of paying for the repairs.
Also this is coming out of the garage's insurance, and not the OP's. Not sure that makes a difference, but the owner could fold his arms, refuse any settlement, and demand it be fixed if it's feasible to do so.
On write off categories...
N (was D) - light damage, insurance decided not to repair
S (was C) - heavier damage, usually structural, insurance decided not to repair
B - for parts only, not to be returned to the road
A - crusher only
There is no UK register of damaged / repaired non-write-off cars (like in the US for example). So there will never be a marker on the HPI record for this car.

That car looks ace! Deffo a keeper!I saw the previous thread and for some reason thought it might have been a Z4MC - but that's probably because I have one of those.
But a "Breadvan" is just so much more stunning, especially in my favourite colour combination.
That looks like a good repair - after so many years of ownership I hope you are happy with the end result!

thankyou. Had the car since 2000. The body shop are BMW approved and they let us take our time to film etc. Looks like a decent job to me.
ks. I'd love one. Hope the repair is decent and you also have a bit of resto work.BTW whoever masked your plate should have masked all the ones in for body repairs
