Opinions on this 987 Cayman S?
Discussion
Liking the look of this Cayman (I’ve got a thing for green Porsches and not too many come up).

Am I better holding out for a gen 2 car?
Any thoughts or opinions welcome! Thanks

Certainly a rare colour, I would always go for the Gen 2 though (whether 2.9 or 3.4) for the new engine design.
If you go for the Gen 1 3.4, I recommend a bore scope before buying. They are susceptible to bore scoring (costly fix). You may need to do some preventative mods too, e.g. low temp thermostat.

Negative, pcm2 really is s
te and outdated, on gen 1 cars would really prefer no pcm for a cleaner look.
That dash looks clean to you? Each to their own

I just use a phone, and replaced the multi-cd with a bluetooth box for listening to music.

The most important bit on any subject. But outdated, yes. The satnav won’t show any roads constructed in the last 20 years. In fact when I picked mine up new from the OPC it didn’t know about the A21 bypass that I drove it home on
I agree it's old and clunky - and it probably was when it was fitted from new - but I love my PCM and think it looks 'period' in my 2006 Cayman S. It hardly gets used as sat nav but I do still switch it on each time I drive it as I like the maps showing traffic issues which it's still very good at - apart from when it's 'flying' over fields

Why is it not full leather, what is missing?
Is it not possible to update the Sat Nav?
Full leather has leather dashboard and door cards. The pictures look like it's leather look plastic. Also, the seats look like the partial leather material. Is it not possible to update the Sat Nav?
To add the full media with sat nav is hugely expensive, if you can find all the parts. I bought a 987.1 cayman from new back in 2008 and didn't spec it. I googled retrofitting it and whilst a relatively simple job to fit, the cost of the parts was in the £000s new, and many hundreds 2nd hand. Never thought it was worth it as a £100 Garmin beat the sat nav hands down.
