Low cost racing?
Discussion
Hi,
I ride a motorbike (well when it's a bit warmer I do!) and am interested to learn more about the lower cost motorbike racing.
I tried googling but found not very useful information presented by insurance websites or more expensive series like the Minitwin.
Are there any recommended go to websites or forums where I can read and learn about the costs associated with the varying levels and types of motorbike racing?
Thanks!

A pal has recently finished his first season racing CB500’s. A competitive bike can be had for £1500, then a another £200 ish on spare wheels with wets. Control tyres are subsidised & cheap enough. The series he raced in was organised by Thundersport. Race entries weren’t crazy money. He enjoyed it & is looking forward to getting stuck on next year.
Really there isn't any cheap racing, just less expensive.
I think as soon as you start riding "big bikes" you're in for approx £4000-8000 per season which obviously depends on this such as location of you vs the circuits you travel too, how you get there, what you enter in etc etc.
For the lowest cost racing you need to be looking either at the Freetech endurance stuff (50cc & 125 bikes) or pit bikes like the british minibikes (typically 140cc but there are others) and you can spend a lot less but as always, some take it a bit seriously.

OP, have you considered straight line racing, too, or is that "not enough motorsport" for your taste ?
There are races & series where you can enter with a non-modified bike and race your own time,
and the opponent in the other lane, all within a self-set Index bracket.
But..........watch out, Drag Racing can be quite addictive and the faster you go, the more expensive it gets.
