Has anyone modified DB7i6 ashtray/centre console?

As the title says - has anyone modified their i6 centre console ashtray? I am unimpressed by the cheap plasticky look of the i6s ashtray fitting (and the cruise control buttons) and am considering options to replace it. I am thinking of either having a bespoke made 'wood' trim piece made that completely removes the opening for them, or maybe having a piece made that sits in their place where I could dock my phone. My cruise control has never worked (it's not the switches or pedal switch) and I wouldn't use it anyway, and so I wouldn't miss the switches. I know it might affect resale, but only if someone was after complete originality - in which case my car wouldn't suit anyway (being a DD car).

Anyway, I am seeking ideas - so if anyone has either done something/has a modification or has suggestions, I'd love to see/hear about them.
