Front Parking sensor problems 981 Boxster

My wife's December 2012 981 Boxster is having a problem with the front parking sensors.

The inner left hand side goes off randomly even whens just starting the engine on the drive, continues beep and the corresponding red warning from that sensor on the display (which is why I think its that sensor)

It then ,when driving, can go off and be ok until braking, or can again just come on when it feels like it. It is not associated with cars in front causing interference.

I am now having to switch then parking assist sensors off by the button next to the mirror.

I'm guessing it needs replacing, is this an easy job to do please?

Also, where's a good place to get Porsche parts online?

It's not too difficult to replace the sensors, but they are clipped to the radiator vents and you need to get the bumper off to get access to the wiring to unclip it. If I remember rightly, the sensor is also attached with a screw which means that you can't replace it by reaching through the grille. I made a post a while ago on removing and replacing the front bumper to replace a radiator grille which was damaged by a pheasant. You might find it interesting. Edit I see you said it's the inner sensor which is next to the number plate. That's not clipped to the vent but you still need to take the front bumper off. And you also need it painted in body colour - not sure how you go about that. Are you sure it's not just a matter of cleaning some wax or debris off the sensor?

You're welcome. I'm glad it's been useful! As for the pheasant, I'll have to ask the flies and the fox which eventually took it! Despite being a shootist, I've never been too keen on pheasant, especially not bruised ones with their guts poking out of their abdomens!

Try giving them a good clean first, it might just be the remains of a dead bug stuck in it. Use an old toothbrush to give it a good old scrub.

Might save yourself some hassle and cost!
