I think a new jetwash for xmas is massively overdue. I have an (ancient) karcher which has performed admirably over the years. I'm having a look through the new range and I can't seem to get my head around what does what. So, 2 car household, looking for a lance (obviously) and probably a snow foam bottle adaptor thingy (can you tell I'm not exactly down with the lingo). I think it's probably cheaper to buy a basic package and pick up the foam bottle afterwards?

Will be for the cars only so all the mop/indoors attachments are not needed.

Budget around £100-150ish

What should I be looking at?

Many thanks

Nilfisk

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nilfisk-Pressure-Washer-1...

No need for any more than that for an every day car washer IMO.

Had mine over 10 years now and it's been faultless

Good snow foam cannon and snow foam here too:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pro-Kleen-Nilfisk-Pressur...

IMO try that first before you fork out for other brands/more expensive cannons etc...

I've used that snow foam & it does a good job. The cannon is good too and I still use mine.

I use AG Polar Blast snow foam now though

For your budget you're best looking for a good deal over the Xmas period that includes all the items you want in one package with a warranty you're happy with. I say this as buying the items piecemeal increases the cost significantly and you're very much into the "designed to fail" region at this price point, so the warranty should carry some weight in your decision.

That's bks...

As said, the Nilfisk I've linked to, the one I own, is 10 years old and has been faultless.

Both my Dad and father in law have one, as does my brother. They all went with Karcher first and they died after a year or 2 of use...!

Cheap Aldi/Lidl £30 power washers are crap / fail readily, but Nilfisk is a a well known maker and they make bloody good washers for not silly money...

Not bks at all, I agree Karcher don’t make a decent cold water washer any more but the nilfisk at that price point has issues too but is still way better .
They change these a lot so your 10 year old washer will be completely different pump / motor wise to a c120

They're actually the same (took mine and my Dad's apart as I thought I was having issues with mine (turned out to be our water pressure in the end)

The pump in my 120 and my Dads (2 years old) exactly the same, same numbers too, which surprised me TBF

You could phrase this a little more politely, don't you think?

You simply cannot make credible statements based on a sample size of 2-3 units. If you had maybe a 1000 I would be interested, I'd be laughed out of my job if I made judgments based on samples like this.

The units you had didn't break, great. The Karcher K2 I had lasted 5 years, as did the replacement I bought, but my friend went through 3 Nilflisks in 2 years. All this proves is we don't have enough data to make categorical statements and start calling other people names.

The fact is Karcher, Nilflisk and all the brands catering to the hobbiest produce a pump for £10-20, stick it in a casing and add various features to inflate the price and give them a massive margin to work with should they need to replace it. The units are not serviceable and are designed with a certain number of cycles in mind, around 250 from what i've learned over the years. This will cover most users for 5+ years but they are ultimately designed with a set life expectancy, hence "designed to fail". There's nothing wrong with this, and if you stick within warranty why should anyone care?

I had a Nilfisk C110 for 4 years that got used every weekend (pretty much) as I am a weekend warrior detailer...

It gave up the ghost in spectacular fashion with a pop and a strong smell of burning plastic.

I paid £80 for it, so I feel I got my moneys worth, I've replaced it with a E160 which is a bit more heavy duty...

I have a Karcher K4, which is still going strong after 3 years.

Only issue I had was an airlock causing weird trigger action, but soon sorted.

Foamer, I find, it best bought seperately. I got a brass-based one off Amazon I think, which is very good.
