Transferring dvd to mp4 to iPhone and iCloud ? Stuck
Discussion
I have some footage of my daughter as a kid in her dancing shows, holidays, nativity etc we want to store in the cloud so we don’t lose them, they are currently on DVD. I am now divorced so me and my ex both want to have a copy.
I have spoken to a local company who said they can burn them to a memory stick as mp4’s. From their I understand we upload direct to iCloud.com which should then be able to download to my iPhone camera roll then share via airdrop to my ex and WhatsApp to my family however this sounds easy but my testing isn’t so.
I uploaded an mp4 test file to iCloud.com and can see it their on the pc no problem but when I open files on my iPhone I see nothing.
Does anyone know if this should work or where am I going wrong. Is this the easiest way?
It’s important as these are irreplaceable and my ex wants them too so I need to solve it so thought the piston heads expects may have some ideas??

Use Handbrake to rip the DVDs to mp4 or whatever video format makes you smile.
Upload these to a folder in iCloud. Right click on folder and press share.
Access on the the files app on your phone or in finder on MacOS.
Ah so I wasn’t sharing it on iCloud is that the problem? Upload these to a folder in iCloud. Right click on folder and press share.
Access on the the files app on your phone or in finder on MacOS.
If that works can I watch them save to my camera roll.

You’d be better off uploading it to YouTube first or google drive (a private area of either would do). And then taking across to WhatsApp / iCloud / etc from there.
And host it there permanently do you mean ?I tried similar as suggested in one of the other posts by uploading to iCloud files and sharing but it just wouldn’t work consistently for me.

Pretty much or you can use this https://www.makemkv.com/Upload these to a folder in iCloud. Right click on folder and press share.

I’ve ripped an entire DVD and Blueray library using this so know it works. You can then drop the file onto Google drive, Onedrive or iCloud and share it from there. Alternatively you can upload MKV files to YouTube on a private channel and share from there.

I might have a go at transferring the discs from dvd to the pc using handbrake but I don’t have a dvd drive in any pc now.
