thats what it sounds like anyway. just picked up the car from big service - new clutch, promax chip, belts service, variocam rejuvenated, new janspeed sports exhaust and other bits and bobs. very frustrating drive home in the p***ing rain on back roads stuck behind a convoy of caravans. but the weirdest noise is emanating from somewhere behind the steering column or the dash. it's intermittent, seems unrelated to switching anything on and off (but sounds electrical), everything seems to work, doesnt vary with speed or moving steering wheel, and sounds like someone moving a small chunk of uranium close towards and away from geiger counter. any thoughts anyone?

if it was a 993 i'd say it's the pollen filter in the fan housing rubbing against the fan.

I get that in a 965 and thought it was aircon related

its a 968cab. dont know if it has a pollen filter. certainly doesnt have aircon (though has a rudimentary climate control thingie). sound definitely coming from steering column/dash.

or the little fan that sucks in through the dash and over a temperature sensor. It's next to the fan speed knob.

What happens when you turn the fan speed down to zero?
