Is there a simple way of checking which providers do fast fibre broadband in my area? I’ve done the postcode checker but it lists companies that I know don’t do it.
I’m in rural wales, so not sure if I can’t find any way of doing it or whether it may be an option to somehow use satellite broadband instead.

Try putting your postcode or phone number in here.

https://availability.samknows.com/broadband/broadb...

depending on how fast you need worth looking at mobile, used to run or office off a 4g router until recently for internet and voip phones. was getting about 40mb compared to bt's 1mb

Most providers sell Openreach products, so worth starting here:

Try something like uswitch as they give results based on your postcode.

SamKnows (I've used in the past) doesn't have 2 providers in my area, both of whom offer the fastest speeds. Internet through our phone line would get us about 2Mbps but we also have Voneus (wireless) and Gigaclear (FTTP) in our area. I think Voneus would get us about 45Mbps (symmetrical) and Gigaclear would get us 900 Mbps (again, symmetrical).

So it seems that Sam knows something but not everything.

Oh and I use neither of those above and use a different Wireless provider (not mentioned by Sam) that can give up to 12/3.5Mbps (ie non-symmetrical) which suits my needs fine.

Careful who you go with.

There will probably be no upfront cost courtesy of the Goverment's Voucher scheme,
but you will have to take out a one year contract.

However unless you can use Openreach for the infrastructure, once the year is up you are subsequently tied to
whatever company has put in the fibre, something that strikes me as being very unfair as it is the taxpayer
who is footing the bill for the FTTP infrastructure.
