Hi All,

Once again it is that post Le Mans time of year where I look to replace my car (currently TVR Tuscan)...

The problem is the choices are reduced year by year...it gets harder to find a car that won't be a backward step in performance terms!

However, performance is not the concern with the Noble, but rather ground clearance...my driveway is on a slope, and the front splitter on the Tuscan grounds (just) when reversing onto the driveway (and when going forwards the exhausts are very close to catching)

I suspect that because of this a Noble will not be an option (unless I move house), but does anybody have any relevant experience?

Failing that, could I persuade anyone local to pop round to my house and give it a go?

I can only reverse mine off in one direction, and forwards is an absolute no no.
Some people remove the front splitter, and I guess you can always alter the ride height easily enough - not sure what it would do the the handling though.
Too far away to come and try I'm afraid.

Can you measure the distance(s) from the ground to the bits that catch on your tuscan, including the distance they are away from the wheels (so I can do some simple "trig" and then I'll see if I can give you an answer by doing the same on mine and "comparing".

These might help you as well

Loads of room

Cheers Joust.

But from your last picture it looks like it will be a close run thing.

I guess I'll just have to build some ramps

Really warming to the idea of a Noble now - unfortunately the more I think about it the more I want an M400!!!

M400 has much more clearance as it doesn't have the splitter which is a good 15mm lower and much further forward.

If you want I'll re-do the piccies with the M400?

Surprisingly, my GTO 3R clears all the nasty-git speed humps around here - amazing really! If you go for one and it subsequently scrapes the splitter can be gpound down a few millis to suit.

Don't worry for now...I'll take some measurements of the Tuscan tomorrow and then we can do a spot of trig!

I have 2 boards that I have to use to get over the pavement "dip" if I reverse in but its ok going forward at a 45 degree angle. It makes a huge difference as to what you can get over if you go at it at an angle.

You could remove the splitter which makes a massive difference, or get it reduced by 5mm as I am doing at the moment while my toy is being fixed at dealer.

I think the ground clearance is better on the Noble than the Tuscan S, based on watching them both go on/off my car transporter; on/off my workshop ramps; and also my drive at home.

You'll love the Noble, the only thing that lets it down is lack of luggage space for trips to Le Mans etc.

That is probably the worse fallacy about Nobles. There is stacks of space behind the seats, and if you get the luggage set you can easily fit enough clothes and associated stuff for two people, for two weeks.

For a trip to LeMans I only used the space of one of the 6 bags despite taking three complete changes of clothes, cameras etc.

In space terms it's probably got twice what you can fit into an Elise, and very similar to the boot in the TS500 - you just have to pack slightly more carefully than just sticking it into a bag and throwing it into the rear.

Just beacause you can't see the boot, doesn't mean it hasn't got any space!

I had exactly the same problem I HAD to buy an M400 so that it would go up the drive. Clearance at the front is quite goos actually. car goes up the drive OK, and my mates Cyvic type R just catches. Can measure angle of my drive if you want, but it is quite steep.

Hah! In exactly the same situation. I was looking to replace my Tuscan S, which scrapes on the drive to my house. Trig would be very welcome.

The M400 does have quite a bit more clearance than the 3R: I was on the ground at Mole Valley measuring.
