Im looking for recommendations for an independent Rolex service agent.

I have a 1989 16700 which is a daily wearer but it misses the odd date change and should probably have a service.

I don't want it cleaned/polished etc, just a mechanical service.

I understand if it goes back to Rolex you can't just get a mechanical service(?) hence looking for an independent who may be more flexible in what they do.

It depends what they deem as 'necessary' and optional, which would be all listed on the service estimate.
They see their job as to return it to new condition.

You can instruct them to not polish it, leave the dial, hands, bezel, crystal etc (perhaps for sentimental reasons) and just do a mechanical service.....this instruction can sometimes get followed, but there are plenty of horror stories of it not being followed and it coming back with a service dial, luminova hands, and a heavily polished case.
They don't ever return the old parts either.

Watchguy.co.uk did my 16203 recently, it was my dads watch and has huge sentimental value to me.

After many an email I sent it off to them, took about 4-5 weeks and got about 200 photos back of it in pieces, cost circa £260 and I got all the old parts back that were replaced! Very pleased with the service.

Best bit was you can watch what hes working on!
