Fresh Turkey Shortage?
Discussion
I put my Christmas order in with my local butcher on Monday and he said Monday was his cutoff as his supplier was running out.
I was in there again this morning and his second supplier has also run out so he isn't taking any more turkey orders.
I assume it is linked to the Bird Flu outbreak. Is anyone else finding them tricky to order?

Not my experience from catering suppliers. Fresh prices are lower than last year and have been told prices will be going down again and I would be charged the lower price if I pick up later rather than sooner.
One supplier however has said they are only supplying frozen this year due to a lack of demand.

I get mine from here which may be relatively local for you - https://www.salixfarmturkeys.co.uk/online-store

I don't know what the supply chain structure is for fresh Turkey but assume quite a bit is imported? If so UK ports are under pressure at the moment for obvious reasons which may be leading to longer lead times in order to guarantee availability.
Ever heard of Bernard Mathews? UK based and make alot of turkey. I can bet a lot of tesco, asda etc turkeys are just theirs put in a diffrent bag.
