£300 TT anyone ..

Hello all..

My love of VW Audi Seat platform cars has struck again..

I was browsing gumtree one night when I saw this pop up.. to be fair I've seen it for the last few weeks starting at 800 and reducing daily..

Once it got low enough I decided its worth a punt.

Here she is,

Not too many pics of her yet as the weather hasn't been great



Shes the 180 bhp quattro version with full heated leather interior..

So the reason she was cheap.. there was no clutch..

Playing with these cars alot I knew it wasn't too bad dropping the gearbox on it.





The sight wasn't great.. actually surprised with how she still drove with the clutch in that condition..

Just sourcing my parts collection for bits now.

More updates to follow once I have located the required bits.

For £300, you literally can't go wrong. Once you have it back up and running, let us know how it drives!

Ha Ha good buy! I was offered a silver 225 Roadster for 200 quid last year, multiple faults and I was not brave enough! But a mate who was an Audi Master Tech got it down to 150!!! Would have cost me nearly 2k to get it mint, so no regrets. However had it have been a coupe I reckon I would have bought it. Good luck with yours!

The way I look at it the cats are worth 150, had a 150 head unit in it plus alloys I could use on my other cars..

I thought I had a spare clutch lying around from a previous build but after looking I think I’ve thrown it out..

I’ve got a diesel one here which i mighty try and make work.. depends how tight I’m feeling on the weekend

The clutch started slipping on my remapped 225, quotes were obscene in garages £1200 ish if I recall...

I took the tuning off and sold it !

That’s why the guy was selling it cheap.. quotes of 800 plus..

It’s not a bad job.. about 2 hours I got the box off.. and that’s over 2 days due to light constraints

Yeah 2 of my buddies bought the 225 for 500 each.. one with a blown turbo and one with a broken gearbox which we fixed for free.. was the common selector fork so we just put a nut and bolt in.

Mad thing is they are all coupes and all the same colour

I think you could be right on that... this one is in surprisingly good condition

I’ve had my 3.2 for about 7 years now and love the thing. I have kept it for so long because I’ve not really found anything which offers as much value for money.

Fitted a blue flame cat back and it sounds great.

I just bought a 180 for the same money. This one really is a poor old thing though - salvage on the log book, ECU seems to be shot, wiring has been messed with, bodywork scruffy. Interior is fine, came with genuine 17s, and has the V6 rear valance. Should get my money back breaking it - front brakes, possibly the whole engine/gearbox, steering rack, etc. They are silly cheap. My 225 will get any little bits it may need from it.

You'll easily make your money back even if the engine is shot people still sell the bam engines for decent money..

If its the quattro the quick rack and hub set up sell well

I really like Mk1 TT’s.

2 years ago I bought a black 225 for £850 off a local trader who had it traded in and didn’t want to retail it due to the age.

91,000 miles.

It was grubby inside, and covered in mossy mildew type stuff outside like it hadn’t been used much, but weirdly it had an MOT only 6 months prior.

Cleaned it and polished it, and to my amazement it came up incredibly clean, with zero damage anywhere that I could find, apart from a few stone chips consistent with milage.

I found the service history and books under the boot carpet while cleaning it, and it turned out to have full history, with the previous owner servicing it every year irrespective of it doing many miles or not.

I drove it around for a bit expecting to find something wrong, but I couldn’t, it literally drove and ran perfectly.

After 6 months of ownership a friend asked to buy it, and as I had just bought it for a laugh in the first place, I decided to just let it go as he offered me £1200 for it.

I saw it parked up in a street a few months ago and it looked absolutely immaculate, and I really regretted selling it.

These are a sure fire future classic, and such a good looking car. I really fancy another one.
