Hi All,

I'm not so good at this, so grateful for some help. from those who know more!

I have a Harmony Hub with Remote.
I have a Subwoofer, that i want to switch on using a "smart" plug.

I would like that when I turn my Amp "On" or "Off" the Sub turns on or off.

I do not believe that any smart plug is compatible with a Harmony Hub.

I do not want to have to buy a Smartthings Hub or other Hub, for the sake of one plug.

Other things I have
- Hive Thermostat
- Blink Security Camera.

What would you suggest as the most cost effective way to do this please?

Thanks

What is the make and model of the sub? Most would auto on when the amp calls for them to play music and time off once it has not received an input. If it is not auto turning on then it is possible you have a configuration issue.

Switch from an Alexa controlled socket to a standby saver for your sub. These are IR controlled, so you can have the socket as a device in harmony, and decide which activities the sub is powered on for.

I use standby savers to shut my AV stuff off (one of my amps doesn't have standby) but you could use one for this.

This.

This, in fact:

I've been using one (well, the 6-gang version) for many years to do exactly the same thing with my sub and power amp. Just teach it your chosen remote command and then include that with your Harmony activity.

I use an extension lead which has a master/slave arrangement for the sockets.
When I turn on my amp it switches on power to my sub and vice versa.
Not this exact one, but similar:

Thanks.

I had thought of an IR Plug, but the sub is the other side of the room from the Harmony 'IR Blaster'

Might work, might not.

Could give it a try.
