Bump....I bought what was supposedly a decent machine from the 'Zon, but its going back, just doesnt vac down any near like they show in the pics.

So, apart from a £400 Masterchef version, anyone have any recommendations please ?

I've got an Eiffel Fresherpack vacuum sealer. I bought it when I first dabbled with sous vide cooking and have used it since for freezer storage.

Other people's mileage may vary, but it has always been reliable and the suction seems okay. I bought it on eBay, but Fresherpack have their own site. I've bought the bags from them and the rolls (where you can choose the length and seal both ends) and they have always been reliable suppliers. I *think* that I found it via a sous vide/cookery forum.

My only caveat would be is that I don't use it very much so, if you would use it every day (or week), I don't know how it would last.

Going back to your other thread on vac pac you made the point about it being mainly for meat you buy from your butcher. You could always ask them to vac it for you?

A sealer will not achieve the same level of vaccuum as a chamber machine so you will never see results like you do with commercial products.

I have a foodsaver vac sealer (Circa £150), been working well for 3-4 years now.

(We also have a £40 cheapo Amazon one in a holiday home which is ok, and does the job)

Tony, thanks, I will certainly ask the butcher if they could do that for me.

I have looked at the Foodsaver and the other machine mentioned above, and Im not sure now.

I have a previous version of this model - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Foodsaver-FFS005-Vacuum-S...

Been using it regularly for a couple of years, works perfectly.
