My bedroom TV last night decided it no longer wants to show HDMI devices properly, the TV is purely used for Amazon Firestick

If you restart the Firestick it shows the Amazon logo clearly then starts crackling when it loads, Initially thought it was the Firestick , so thought it would be an excuse to buy the new Google Chromecast TV device. I had an older Chromecast in the draw so plugged that in to cast Netflix to it for now but that is also got a crackly picture. Have tried all 3 HDMI ports.

Any TV engineers got any ideas? possible to switch out the HDMI ports for new ones? or is it going to silicon heaven.

its a 37" LG 37LD490

I don't think there is such a thing as a TV engineer any more.

Looks like electrical noise. Would guess a filter or shield failed somewhere (though I am mechanical rather than electrical..)

Almosy certainly cheaper to buy a new one than pay an engineer to look.

Lightning strike next door caused my LG tv to blow its hdmi ports.

Took the back off it, the electronics were on one additional circuit board. Took part number off the board, got new one from internet.

Fitted it myself, just dome screws and a couple of ribbon connectors and various little plug connectors. sorted ( although a few of the remote control functions were lost for some reason, but you could control them with the sky remote).

Part cost £37.

Job jobbed.

Not a tv repair man....

Found on ebay you can send the board off for £40 so will probably just do that unless can find one for sale, will take the part number off it tomorrow.
