Given that 2020 has been a bit crap, I've started to think about what I'd like to do in 2021.

My Aims:
Lose weight
Walk/Run/Cycle at least 1000 Miles
Get the mortgage at least 50% paid off
Get my old shed past 100K Miles

Hopefully these too:
Have a holiday outside this island.
Visit some older relatives I've not seen in 2020.

How about you? thumbup

Good idea, nice to see some positivity!

Cycle more than I did last year.
Loose more weight, I'm already 2 stone down so would like to drop another 2.
Get all our finances sorted to the point where we only have mortgage going out monthly.
Build a timber car port.
Finish the last leg of house renovations.

Buy a DB9.

Should be quite the year!

Get out on my road bike more and ride my time trial bike on it's first proper ride, IE, further than 2 minutes from my house and back.

That's my priority too. Assuming I achieve that, to have had more fun along the way would be rather nice, there hasn't been much of it this year. 'Fun' means more miles in our Riley, I doubt we've managed more than 1000 this year.

Also better health for O/H. She's had a very rough time since May last year but fortunately had surgery a month ago that <touch wood> seems to have worked.

Need to stop setting goals that i then ignore but promise i will sort out one day

Carry on the online learning course i started late last month

Go back to the home psychology course i bought donkeys years ago and actually do it properly

Start using my pushbike to get to work, it's only 2 miles.....uphill....but even so, i walk it right now so i should get my lazy arse into gear and get on with it.

But most importanlty, get my nutrition sorted out, leave fizzy drinks and chocolate alone, same goes with crisps and biscuits.

Anyone want to bet that i will be referencing this post at this time next year?? hehe

Lots of car meets and run outs. Lots of days out and weekends away with mates. Continue to spend all my money on silly cars. Basically enjoy myself as much as possible. Hopefully find myself a flat that suits my needs. Really looking forward to getting to enjoy my new car on some warm sunny days with warm dry roads roof down. This year has been a struggle mentally so basically try and be happy again.

Great thread!

If I get a place I'll be doing a multi-day mountain bike race next summer. Bearing in mind that I'm in my mid-50s, have two completely shagged knees and have barely been on the bike for the whole of this year, my aim is to get even a basic level of strength, fitness and resilience by June 2021. What could possibly go wrong?!

In the race, my goal is simply to finish. If I'm honest with myself, I'll be pleased if I make it to the start...

2021 goals list...

1. Lose six stone (managed five stone this year but then promptly put four stone back on!)
2. Walk 5km each and every day (will help with 1 above).
3. Get my finances sorted (always broke!)
4. Spend less time on social media (not here, but on Facebook particularly)
5. Spend more time with family (have four children, three grandchildren)
6. Smarten the house up a bit (and the garden)
7. Not to use brackets as much when posting on PH (no chance of that!!)
8. Maybe if 1 to 7 is completed, look for a Mrs GloverMart (well, it's been 12 years now)
9. Continue working on my book (well under way)
10. Stop making so many lists (unlikely).

Get moved into our first ever Detached house.

Relax.

Make garage as nice as it can be for my Caterham.

Build BBQ shack in corner of garden.

Sort spare room out for guests.

Have a lot of BBQ's with friends staying over.

Anything else will be a bonus.

Normally I'm quite materialistic with this stuff like getting a new car or bike, so maybe a goal to be less like that. I've bought pretty much nothing since March that isn't essential and I don't feel any worse for it.

Probably to keep running, I'd like to get my 10k time below 40 mins (currently 42.40) for first effort so that's a nice achievable non-materialistic goal.

Finish masters, find suitable related employment.
Lose weight & get fitter. Drink less. I'm a lockdown bloater.
Refresh suspension on bike. And car. Keep Alfa going as long as possible, maybe rustproof the underside. It's in reasonable shape at the moment and I did a big belt service this year.
Get back into playing bass and play live. Last time I played was for a pantomime in January.
Decide once and for all whether it should be one or two spaces after a full stop.
