Dumb question - MOT advisory on oil leaks

Without crawling under a car and taking the trays off etc...., would an MOT advisory for oil leaks on engine and transmission on a car you were looking to buy be a reason to walk away?

Depends on where they were coming from, how much the car was, what I was going to do with the car...

If you're looking for a cheap reliable commuter, walk away. There's loads of bargains. If it's a £10k MINI, walk away again.

If it’s just an advisory on one year among several others where it’s not been mentioned, it could just be an anal tester noticing what they thought was a leak but could just be where it’s dripped down while being filled etc.

However if it’s mentioned in multiple MOTs then I would probably skip by personally.

I saw them on the mot today, I'll ask the seller for previous mots, see if there's anything mentioned. £10k FFRR, with warranty.

I've never had a Range Rover, but I've driven Discoveries for over 20 years. I think I've probably had advisories for oil leaks most years.

"Stops the underside from rusting" has always been my view...

My Land Rover had a couple of oil leaks mentioned on the MoT. It's 33 years old and it's a Land Rover, so I'm not overly bothered. I did think it was a bit odd though, as they are not bad enough to actually leave a mark on the garage floor.
