I could do with getting our Forester jacked up at the rear but need to work at the jacking points on the n/s cill so the jack & stands will be in my way. Has anyone jacked up the rear of their subaru using the rear axle transfer casing then putting stands under the axles?

Thanks in advance.

Not familiar with the car but what about under the rear spring Pan and do each side on its own allways less likely to stress the component then jacking a whole end up at once?

Rear axle Diff case is a common jacking point, bonus is the car rises level so easier to place on stands.

Not had an issue doing this on my Imprezas over the years. Forester is just the same underneath, so you should be fine. Just avoid the diff cover as it's alloy. Make sure to jack on the diff casing.

Jacking on the diff, yes.

Supporting the car with stands under the driveshafts, not so much.

Yes don't place stands under drive shafts, will not do them any good.

Axel stands is a bit of a misnomer as they should only be used with solid axels.

I was referring to the "Axel" part of the name. They should just be called "Car Stands".
