We've a tenant who once sent me a text about me, it was quite rude. He had meant to send it to his girlfriend.

A couple of years later, for reasons I won't go into, I saved his life.

For a while, he was quite respectful. Then, roll on a few years, and the same tenant sent me another text intended for someone else, again being rude about me. That's gratitude for you.

We have another tenant who is a painter. He is 6.5 feet tall, German, volatile, an ex con and ex kick-boxer. We give him occasional work. Today, our handyman sent him a text, intended for me, saying how inept he is.

I had planned to spend this evening with my family enjoying a Chinese meal. Instead I've spent it persuading the German not to kill our handyman.

So, what is the worst example if you sending a text to the wrong person?

Not me, but my ex wife.

When she found out I was having an affair so proceeded to send several hundred nasty texts to the 'other woman'

Except she had got the last two digits of the number in reverse when she grabbed my phone off me.

Only realised when a, I also text to warn the other woman and she replied some time later that nothing had come through and then b, when some random bloke woke up from night shift to a torrent of abuse and he called wife to give it what for.... Although he saw a funny side.

By this time wife had calmed down and never bothered texting the actual number!

Ooof.

I once texted something offensive (but true) about someone and it went to the wrong person

Of course the wrong person was the person I was talking about. Fortunately it wasn't hugely obvious and I was able to weasel my way out of it.

My MiL is a lovely lady, but a hypochondriac, and has always had what ever you've had. But worse. Goes to the dr a lot for minor things.

Anyway I took her for a hospital appointment, when she got back in the car she told me what the doctor had said.

Apparently the doctor had told her she was probably going to have a stroke at some point in the near future, that was that and sent her on her way.

I text my wife with laughing emojis saying haha your mums having a stroke. Except I text it to the MiL, she was still sat beside me.

Awkward 30 miles.

It wasn't true, every time she visits it's something else. That was a good 12 years ago. Still fighting fit.

I had an employee text me in some detail as to what his wife was going to receive when he got home.

Had my life choices been different I’d have been quite flattered and very sore eek

A text and a voicemail.

I hardly use a portable telephone ( wink ). And very few people have the number so it's unusual to have incoming.
I've forgotten the detail of both but the text was threatening revenge for some bad deed/insult. I-know-where-you live kind of stuff. Deleted and number blocked.
Voicemail was a lass, obviously with drink taken /Terry Wogan, tired. And emotional about a breakup or other relationship trauma.

Not quite the same, but when i was 18, on a night out a friend got my phone off me and send all my contacts the message "I want sex, for reals"

Caused a st storm with a few people, like my neighbours and a few of my mums friends.

My mum's the same! I told her quite some years ago that LOL wasn't "lots of love", but she continued, then made a similar mistake as yours!

Years ago on a New Years eve, I was stood outside a house party chatting to a friend while he was having a smoke, and I watched as he typed a text on his phone that said something like "Happy NYE babe, can't wait to see you, we will be together soon, love you x x x" and then selected the 'Send to many' option and sent it to about 8 different girls, while his wife was inside the party.

He thought it was funny and that he was being a proper 'player'. Wasn't even slightly concerned about me seeing him do it.

Several years later and he is divorced as his wife caught him out big time, and now lives on his own in a rented apartment.

Idiot.

In another life I used to work for a large international employment agency.

One of my staff managed to send one of my largest clients a video of himself having a Thomas the tank engine.

Naturally my client was a tad supprised and somewhat alarmed and the conversation I had with him was shall we say robust.

Later when I had a very embarrassing chat with my member of staff we came to the mutual decision that he would no longer have any dealings with the client and nothing more would be said about the matter.

Several years later after having moved on from that company I bumped into my ex client at a social event who proceeded to ask if I was still working with wkers.

Oh how we did laugh thus proving time can indeed heal most things.

Not a text but at a previous company someone was trying to forward an email that turned out to be a rather sexist joke home to his wife and some colleagues. They got the address for the wife wrong and it landed in the HR ladies inbox!

Result: 1 sacking, several written warnings and a compensation payout for the HR lady.

This is why I don't forward jokes, etc on to colleagues.

My wife's a domiciliary chiropodist and one of her patients is a younger diabetic chap with one leg. He doesn't look after himself very well so has all sorts of foot issues.

Going back about 4 years she texted me after a visit along the lines of "Fxxking Mr One Footed Man, he's such a pain in the arse, can't look after himself, I wish he'd just hop off and be done with it". Of course she texted the patient instead of me as that was the last text when the visit was confirmed.

He did laugh about it and surprisingly improved his care and attention to his wellbeing. He's still her client now.

And no, he doesn't get a discount for only having one foot....
