Some folks seem to see racism in everything.

“ A BBC presenter came under fire today after claiming racism had become endemic in gardening.

James Wong, 39, said the "fetishisation" of words such as "heritage" and "native" were examples of how "UK gardening culture has racism baked into its DNA".

The botanist, who has presented Countryfile and appeared as a panellist on Radio 4's Gardeners' Question Time, made the remarks on Twitter after a user shared an article he wrote last month questioning why horticulture wasn't perceived as more political.”

Utter moron.
The Beeb went out of their way this year to include people of all kinds of backgrounds, ages, colours and races showing off their gardens on TV.

They did, and very good it was too, GW has gone from strength to strength in my opinion.

Surely that's got to be a parody. No sane person could actually think that.

You honestly will be surprised what some people have tried to connect to racism/sexism/homophobia/transphobia/etc

And also not very good at what he does. So does he keep getting employed on merit or to tick a box?

Not my experience, the scheme I'm working on the trees are coming from Holland as no one grows them semi-mature here. I knew nothing about planting or trees until recently working with people in the industry but not once have I heard anyone say you can't plant that as "it's foreign". In fact the greater the biodiversity the better.
