Best PC Anti virus software

Need to put a free Anti virus program on my daughters PC.

Any pointers gratefully recieved.

If it’s a Win10 PC then Windows Defender is more than up to the job for most

The Microsoft one built into Windows is supposed to be as good as the market leaders,I believe

Windows Defender

I’d then put Malwarebytes on top but not active monitoring, just a manual scan every week or 2.

Then CCleaner to keep the registry clean. Again not active monitoring, for manual use only

I havn't had a virus for years. I remember big ones exploding all the time and being news.

Are they still a big thing or are modern OSs good enough at stopping them these days?

I just use Windows Defender.

Windows Defender will quarantine this as a threat
