What jobs do you do at home ?

I have recently been awarded the contract for cleaning the bathrooms at home by the wife it seems as she asked me to do it last week and now she asked when I am doing it this week, I don't mind doing it to be honest.

Just interested in what home based tasks you lot do ?

My other ones are

Anything car related, washing, MOTs, paperwork etc

All the gardening.

Any diy tasks that come up, decorating etc (did get a decorator in this time though)

Hoovering

Anything involving emptying bins

Some cooking

I do 90% of the cooking and she does 90% of the cleaning. Mostly because my cleaning isn't up to her standards and her cooking isn't up to my standards 🤣 everything else is pretty even.

Apparently i tendered and won every single job in the house but she says she is going to put them up for tender again as i havent fulfilled the contract.

All DIY and thats it, occasionally I cook and I don’t mind putting the vacuum around.

Wife doesn’t work and i average a 70hr week

Dog walking when I’m not working days
Food shopping
Taking the boy to get his hair cut
All the cleaning which now has to take longer as she works from home.
Planned trips to the vet
Fortunately washing and ironing is something I don’t have to get involved too much in.
Lawn cutting and ground works but not planting.
Reaching high up things
Moving heavy things
Nodding, grunting and generally showing agreement. This can cause problems if I’m not listening properly.

Forgot the dog, she wont generally walk him as "He is annoying", so I go out every evening for 30 mins to an hour and a half but dont mind, got the time and I stick some music or a podcast on, burns a few calories.

I do the dogs haircuts, feed him and generally do any vets visits.

Same here n the washing and ironing, I help out moving baskets up and down stairs but that's generally it.

Household finances/budget is generally me, I pay all the bills, food and fuel as she earns about a third of what I do.

I do the food shopping 90 percent of the time, mainly as I finish at noon on a Friday so its an ideal time to do it, plus it costs more if she goes as everything tends to be top of the range in individual portioned packs.

She is cooking tonight, a chicken and veg curry, its really ice but when I am cooking she comes in and gives me handy hints and dire warnings about everything, decrees what must be used in the dish where I prefer nobody in there and I take her a glass of wine and top it up, wheras she bangs, crashes, shouts at the dog and complains that she gets no help and she is always cooking, which isnt the case.

That’s one of the reasons why I do the shopping, but she does do the list and weekly menu.

Every week I ask if she has checked the cupboards etc, every week I end up buying at least two items we don’t need, that’s with me taking a guess and scrubbing a few things off.

She’s cooking tonight too, deconstructed cottage pie (mince and mash). I can also hear the iron clattering about. Will go in soon to get a beer ask if she wants a drink and be reminded that she is ‘on-call’ so cannot...is the thoughtlessness greater to offer or not remember...

Things are not going well today she had to re wrap a load of presents after her cat pulled the tags off them, I have since given advice on alternative identification methods.

I do all the cooking, she does the clearing up after.
I do most of the cleaning and bins etc
Dog walks she does most of
Then on my days off we swap round usually, I work a different roster. It usually works quite well!
I like to think I do more but then she always reminds me I have an easy job etc etc!

I do everything. I mean everything. My wife doesn't do a thing and I get cross when she does. This is because I no longer work, but she does.

I do a big job sometimes twice in the morning and another when home from work. That's about it.

My wife makes lists. And gets stressed about her list and complains that nobody (me) is taking the list seriously.

And does quality control.

Complains if I put 3 loads of washing on in a day. Complains that I put washing on and none of it's her stuff. Doesn't put it in the washing basket, but hey.



Today, I was roped in with dyeing her hair. To remove the silver. It took 3 hours plus. Most of the those 2 hours were her telling me I was doing it wrong. I'm not a hairdresser, I don't care how your hairdresser does it, I'm following the instructions as best I can, but apparently she can tell I'm doing it wrong. Guess what ? It's fine.

Basically everything is my job, and her job is to point out my errors. If she does something, it's because I'm.incompetent and she cant trust me.

I do 95% of everything, including all the washing up that has been created when I have been away for work for a week (although this has been better recently mainly because I am not working away as much)

Both work full time.

She does a huge chunk of the cooking, dusting, finances, food planning/shopping list creation.

I do that bathrooms and hoovering. Feeding the pets. Bins, recycling, lawn mowing, DIY.

We share the food shopping.

My Wife does most of the cooking and most of the cleaning around the house (although I will say, she makes substantially more mess).
I do the hoovering

And most of the "grunt work".

We equally do the Dishwasher.

I generally pick up the dog poo in the Garden and also mow the grass.

I do everything car/garden/DIY related. Wife does most of the cooking although I am the better cook and enjoy it. We split the cleaning 50/50 and wife does the washing.

I look after all the banking/paperwork etc. Food gets delivered. Wife does the order.

We both work full time.

Works pretty well although must admit tempted by a cleaner to give us some hours back at weekend.
