Friend of mine is looking for a decent reliable and not too costly to run 4x4 for around the 5k mark. She is a tree surgeon and also helps out on her friends farm so it will be used for what it's meant for, though also had 2 young kids (3&4) so needs something that will also do the mum thing reasonably well.
Any suggestions?

a honda CRV gen 2 would be that price or cheaper (04 -07 plate)

Usual honda reliability, choice of Derv or petrol, 4x4 is only 'on demand' though but its fine for mild stuff, guess it depends how 'off road' it'll go.
