Bigger Bolsters for the 987
Discussion
I have an old Cayman that I primarily use for track days and solo drives/escapes from the family
The car itself is now fantastic on track but the standard comfort seats do not really offer sufficient support and I’m finding it quite tiring on my legs and back. The issue appears to be the side bolsters (I use a CGLock to keep my lower half planted) and so I was wondering if it was possible to have the drivers seat retrimmed with deeper bolsters (like the old 964 Sports Seats)? Nobody appears to have done it and having never had seats retrimmed before, I don’t really know what is feasible when it comes to remodelling the actual shape.
The other option is of course a bucket seat but a) fitting them/losing the heated seats/cheating the airbag is a bit of a hassle and b) I’m reasonably tall and a higher seat height (which seems to be a side effect of the aftermarket mounts) would be undesirable.
So to those that know about such things, is this possible? If not, do you have any recommendations for a reasonably priced, low mounted bucket seat that I could just swap in and out for track days? I’d love something like a Recaro Pole Position but expensive seats may look out of character with the otherwise utilitarian feel of the car (I seem to have more stone chips than paint these days!)

The sports seats in a 3.2 Carrera or 964 are the most comfortable seats I've owned. Really comfortable and supportive.

They are great seats (had them in my 964), but very heavy.[Img]http://www.total911.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Screen-Shot-2016-10-31-at-12.07.22.png[/thumb]

With the correct floor mounts/side mounts, you should be able to get something like a Pole Position as low as, and probably lower than the OE seat. What I would say is this, don't skimp on the seat or indeed seat mount/side mount quality. The OE seats may not provide the lateral support you need, but in the event of an accident, they won't collapse or allow you to be thrown around the cabin like rag doll, whereas cheap, poor quality or replicas seats, on poorly thought out, hastily installed mounts, can and probably will cause some horrendous injuries.
Here's a link to an install I did on my 1M Coupe :

The finished install was incredibly rigid, and not only made the car far more enjoyable to drive, but also far easier to drive on and over the limit.

How did you find getting in and out of the Sparco Corsas? That is my other slight concern with deep buckets. At a petrol station (for example) where space is limited, even with the standard seats it can be a bit of a nightmare getting in/out (I'm reasonably athletic but I'm also 6'2" with long legs!)What I would say is this, don't skimp on the seat or indeed seat mount/side mount quality. The Sparcos were very supportive due to their high sides. I'm 5'11" (long torso, short legs) and back in 2013 I was probably 11.5 stone (I'm just over 12 stone now) They weren't a tight fit, just snug and very comfortable, and if anything the high sides made getting out easier, because you could effectively put your hand on the top of the bolsters and "jack yourself up" out of the seat and spin your legs out of the car (if you have sufficient arm strength). It did require the steering wheel to be adjusted in and up as far as it would go, every time you got in or out, to enable sufficient clearance for your knees/legs.
This is the current equivalent of what I installed in the 1M Coupe :

if you want easier ingress and egress, I'd go with something like this :

I've got Cobra Nogaros in mine retrimmed in grey to match the car. They are on the lowest mount setting and are almost too low for me at 6ft..Nice and comfortable and look OEM. They hug well but are cut back enough at the sides to get in and out ok for daily driving etc..
Not the cheapest but a really nice seat for street/track..

Incidentally the COBRA script on the mounts is due to the previous owner who owns the company, ( and did a lovely job of fitting the seats and retrimming other bits )
