I wonder how much the big hole in the service history will affect the value, even though it is a 1 owner car? The MOT history implies large periods of being stored.

Will be interesting to see what it fetches. But it’s sad to see a Noble that’s spent so long doing virtually nothing other than gather dust. If I were buying, I’d want one that’s been used as well as properly cared for.

how reliable are these things compared to say something like an Exige S3?

I’d suggest it could need a full overhaul/recommission to put it back on the road that might need to include a full set of tyres so you might be in for say £3-4K depending on what is found (I’ve seen a big service at about £800 plus VAT)

I’d guess if it did have FSH it would have been a circa £50k car (asking for a private sale) though someone might bid high £30ks/low £40ks possibly? I found the following although no comparison with a S3 Exige

Nobles do seem very rare in the market currently.

My last service was £380 about a month ago. I think the most I've paid is around £700. Apart from servicing I've had a couple of £2,000 - £2,500 bills to replace exhaust, dampers, undertrays, batteries, etc. I've had one breakdown in 17 years due to a cracked fuse box and that's about it. So, on average, probably about £800 - £1000 a year. Insurance (for me) is £220 and tax is about £270ish. So it's quite cheap when I compare it against what I've paid for other more modern sports cars. I haven't experienced any issues leaving the car unused for a few months over winter on a trickle charger. It always starts first time.

That car will need a new set of tyres if it's still on the original ones.

appreciate your response MrC, it's always been a dream car of mine I'd love to tick this off the list! the buyers guide sounds like there's quite a few things that can go wrong..do you think this is one of the last cars you would purchase blind on auction? as you say, it looks as though the car has been stored for some time.

much appreciated Simon! - £1k a year isn't too bad at all very similar to my Cayman S, I was expecting to be a fair bit more to maintain!

A good friend of mine had an M12 & then a 3R (both from new) for a year or so each. He had a few minor niggles rectified under warranty though were impressive performance wise & he'd worked his way up through Elise’s & Exiges etc before. I’d strongly recommend you look at any car like this before buying in an online auction and really have a close look at all the perishable pipes etc. if you can, as well as checking all the fluids & hearing the car start from cold & then getting it up to temperature, as well as a decent test drive. They’re a hand built car and some of the parts could be difficult to get hold of so get over on to the Noble owner’s website as you should find some good info.

It sold for £40,750 plus commission in the end...I guess if you’re after a car to keep/drive, rather than put away as an investment, it’ll be ok once it’s been given a thorough service etc.

The car is now listed at Targa Florio for £60k....no mention of recommissioning or having had a major service etc. before sale....I think they've big kahoonahs

It’s funny how we’ve gone full circle & the car I highlighted is now in the “Spotted car” feature & some think £60k is a fair sale price! It’ll be interesting to see how long it takes to sell as it must be a limited market with equally limited supply!
