My journey to a Porsche 992 C2S
Discussion
It would be fair to say I have owned a few cars in my 20yrs of driving, many of them forgettable but just occasionally one to two that are PH worthy. My Dad is the source of my interest in Porsche, during my childhood he owner a string of 911's from the 4speed Turbo, wide-bodied SC and finally a 930 Turbo LE (with a smattering of 944's for good measure). As he was in the trade he drove a lot of cars but always had a Porsche as he said they make the best sports-cars and at that age I could not argue with him. Secretly I wished he would turn up at home in a Ferrari but he said son "They are more trouble than they are worth".
This was the last 911 my Dad had which was a 930 Turbo 5speed (Photo credited to another PH'er who bought the car off my Dad)

I owned a handful of decent cars in the 1st 10yrs of driving which included a Fiat Coupe Turbo and a B7 RS4 Avant, but my 1st Porsche was a 2009 Boxster 2.9 PDK. It had a wonderful engine that really sang but it did not quite have the punch of the 3.4S which is the one I should have gone for.

This gave way to a mint Audi R8 4.2 manual which I fell in love with. I bought it from Autologix in Nottingham on a very cold Decembers day, I remember threading through the lanes back home on the ice and I was terrified I would bin it! This is probably one of the best cars I have owned (recent purchases included), the manual was a delight to hear the clack of the gear changes and that V8 spins up so well. I took it on the North Coast 500 a year later and had a blast even though it rained most of the time.

Unfortunately I had to sell that due to some home improvements, then followed divorce so there were a few years of mundane motoring while I sorted out the financials with the ex-wife. But happy times were on the horizon, I met my current partner, I was granted a divorce and started looking again for my next motor. I really wanted a 911, in-fact I test drove one twice but as it was my only car it would just not have worked out practically....I fell in love with the 992, the wide body shape and the echoes to the 930 of old (look for the details on the bonnet, and the dash layout). In the end I settled on a new C63S Coupe which is a really great car, I managed a few road trips in this but it never got under my skin like the R8. The C63s is all about the drivetrain, its an impressive package all round, but your always still reminded your in a C-Class, after tasting the 911 a year prior I was still thinking about them.

So fast forward to November 2020, with some encouragement from my partner and the need for a practical 4 seater gone the 911 was finally in sight! I test drove a 991.2 but prices are strong and instead decided to spec a 992, when the manual box was released earlier this year then that sealed the deal. Well here she is an Aventurine Green 992S, the colour is a mix of grey and green in some lights and it really pops in the sun. The interior is island green with black dash and door tops, I never saw this in the flesh but really pleased when it arrived as it brightens up the cabin. The manual box is a delight (when warmed up), just waiting for some dry roads and time to really stretch its legs. I am really impressed with the car so far, it feels special to be in and drive even around town (which the C63 could not do), it may have grown against the previous generation but its still a small car, but mine and my partners kids fit in the back spot on (9 and 10yrs)...right now it may be just about the perfect sports car

Beautiful thing, these must be north of £150k now right?
Looks like one was sold this summer at Silverstone Auctions for £163k

Really like Aventurine Green, reminds me of the Granite/Felsen Green on my old 911.
Interested to read you can get some 9-10yr olds in there. I have tried with my 6yr old in my current V12 vantage, but apparently she cannot lie across the rear shelf and needs to wear a seatbelt too...
How does it compare with the R8 in terms of dynamics?
