2-3 week examintion by the judge to; "examine the police response, including the judgements of the officers in using lethal force."
Here's an examination for you - Convicted terrorist walks the streets freely and starts stabbing people and is dead within 60 seconds of launching his attack.
I mean, was there really a need for the IOPC to go and obtain 349 witness statements? Holy f

Why wouldn't they? If I was ARU I'd want to know that they'd gathered all the evidence that I'd acted appropriately.
Better than in 15 years time finding myself being questioned and the threat of jail time because somebody in the future discovers due process wasn't followed.
I agree but only due to the fact a legal bod is usually quite willing to make a few quid out of it. Better than in 15 years time finding myself being questioned and the threat of jail time because somebody in the future discovers due process wasn't followed.

Agree if they are collecting evidence to support your actions only. But what if you have the threat of jail time now due to the current enquiry?Better than in 15 years time finding myself being questioned and the threat of jail time because somebody in the future discovers due process wasn't followed.
I don’t want the people trusted to protect me with firearms to waste 1 second slotting a terrorist due to them second guessing the system.

Judge Dredd is a fictional character. Mega City One is not a fun place to live.
For a number of ‘members’ on PH, I’m afraid JD probably isn’t and MC1 is. Especially at 06.04 in the am. Having said that, The RAID is a much better movie.

Can you think of a single case in which an armed officer has not acted because of concern about being scrutinised?
Surely that can never be known since if no action was taken nothing would be investigated Breadvan72 said:

So I support the inquests.
If it costs more than some people think it's worth, I would say that's just the price of democracy.
I think it's a price worth paying.

Ok, so stretching a stretchy thing here, but didn't the recent Manchester arena bombing inquest uncover an unwillingness to ask suspicious looking dark person with oversized rucksack what they were doing, for fear of being perceived as racist?

Correct, and a good reason to have an inquest. (Security guard, not police: as i said, stretchy)
