Hi all
Long time lurker, very very occasional poster, but thought I would contribute a bit more and what better way to do it than show my new wheels.
Won’t go into too much history about me - basically I grew up with warm/hot hatches. First car was an xr2i, then a few xr3i’s before settling for a couple of 205 gti’s - these were my favourite and I regret getting rid of my last one back in 2003, but getting married/having kids took over so for the last 17 years it’s been boring family cars (but a few bikes mixed in for fun too though)
For a while I’ve been wanting a fun car again, 205’s have rocketed in price and I wouldn’t want to use one as a daily. Looked at Clio 172/182 etc but had a horrendous experience with a Renault a few years ago and just couldn’t do that again..
I like Fords, heard good things about the Fiesta st so arranged a test drive at a local dealer, not really intending to buy it, just more to see if I liked it. After 10 minutes I knew I wanted it, what a blast! Very playful, kinda reminds me of a 205gti but quicker and a lot more modern.
So here it is -

So, it’s a 2014 ST2 with the Mountune 215 kit added. I’ve not driven a standard one, so can’t compare the difference but can say it goes very very well. From just over 2000rpm it pulls strongly, you can leave it in 6th and just use the torque for overtakes, or drop down a few and it just takes off.
The steering is great, razor sharp and loves to corner. The car just feels like it wants to be thrashed. Low speed ride in town is firm but not a problem.
Mpg after 300 miles is 36mpg, it was sitting at 38 but some short journeys through town has dropped it down a bit.
So that’s it really, plan at the moment is just to enjoy it. No mods planned, but maybe a slightly fruitier exhaust at some point. Would be interested to hear from any other ST owners about your time with the car, any mods, mpg etc. Do these benefit from super unleaded?
Thanks for reading

You need to explain what 'Mountune 215 kit' is.
Not sure whether you meant it to be but that sounded unnecessarily aggressive for a reply to someone's first post. Most will know what the mountune kits are (it's a standard addition on a lot of Ford's for petrol heads).
I would presume its a map from Mountune which bumps power to 215bhp (+/- exhaust/rad).
Alternatively there's Google.

Mountune 215 kit is a replacement air box with a K+N panel filter and a remap to 212bhp (or 215ps, hence the 215) but more importantly it raises torque from 177 ibs ft to 236 ibs foot.
Yes, that would be my perfect set up. 200+ bhp and 200+ lbft in a small light hatchback.I'd agree, I don't think it needs more, it would spoil the balance then you would have to start chasing other mods - brakes, suspension, differential

Nice car.
Hope you have taken security precautions ref the OBD port.
I agree about the 182 after having owned one for a couple of years. Big PITA with everything that went wrong.
I have! Also using a disklok and looking into extra security I.e viper alarm/immobiliser. Hope you have taken security precautions ref the OBD port.

The Renault I had was a scenic, had it for 12 months and it was terrible - maybe I just got a bad one..?

It does feel just right to me, everything’s nicely balanced. I'd agree, I don't think it needs more, it would spoil the balance then you would have to start chasing other mods - brakes, suspension, differential
Bang for buck they are probably the best hot hatch out there.
MP215 is the sweet spot. My mate had a MR230 example, coupled with a few choice Mountune goodies, Springs, Short Shifter etc, and was an absolute blast to drive, satisfyingly quick too. But the cost is quite high compared to the MP215.
Hot hatches are just great.
Enjoy.
