Interesting story here (though I don't have an online subscription to Autosport) http://www.autosport-atlas.com/news.aspx?id=45397&s=5

"The Grand Prix Drivers' Association has been thrown into further turmoil after David Coulthard revealed to his fellow drivers that FIA president Max Mosley called him last week to express his displeasure at his behaviour over the Indianapolis tyre fiasco, Autosport-Atlas can exclusively reveal"

Now... surely the president of the FIA has no business in the opinions of the drivers (who are employees of the teams and nothing to do with the FIA), and whether they express them publicly or not. David Coulthard spoke out saying what he and many others believed and he gets a phone call from Mr Moseley telling him he shouldn't tell people what he thinks? In the light of this I am sceptical whether Mr Moseley is a suitable chap to be in the position he is in.

I thought DC was very controlled in the whole situation. He, as always, did a fantastic job speaking up for the drivers and keeping the TV veiwers informed.
Oh well he didn't agree with the FIA so I reckon a 5 month ban two million pound fine and the deduction of all his points will be a suitable punishment. God the FIA make me so angrey

If this is true (and DC was his normal professional self when asked by Brundle (his manager) then as usual we should wait for the facts.

It could be that MM and Dc have a very close friendship and this was a 'friendly' chat.

It could be that in his position as chairwhatsit of the GPDA that this was the correct channel for MM to vent his annoyance at.

It could be that MM is a power crazed egomaniac who has gone mad and needs removing from his post.

However until we get some facts we won't know.

Footballers, who are employed by their respective clubs, are very often hauled before disciplinary bodies to answer charges of bringing the game into disrepute. On this score, the FIA has every right to call a driver to task over what they say.

However, I actually agree with Coulthard and I'm sure he would be well able to stand up for himself if questioned by Max or anyone else at the FIA.

It's in his gene's, here is his father Sir Oswald Mosley pre-war leader of the British Facist party and close friends with Hitler and Mussolini. Maybe he imagines himself in the same role as him with all the team managers and drivers saluting him in the same manner.

I had the pleasure of meeting Max Mosely twice through work a couple of years ago and he was an absolute gent. Don't know what has happened since though.

After today's news I hear
Moseley said:

F1 will be dead within a year if he doesn't go or sort himself out.
