Rock 'n' Roll Women!
Discussion
Thread for celebrating the awesome women of rock n roll.
>>> Rock 'n' Roll is used in this context as a phrase, or a generic term. So for those confused by my inclusion of St Vincent, (no idea why because she's great) this thread includes *any* genre.
I'll start with St Vincent - Digital Witness

P.S my thread, my rules.

Beth Hart - I'd Rather Go Blind

I saw her on tour in Spring this year at Sheffield (seems an awfully long time ago now), she was truly excellent, a real tour de force. About halfway through the gig though she got twenty seconds into one of her signature tunes in silence, then said "I've forgotten the fuc*ing lyrics"
This just has such a dirty sound...
Joan Jett - I Hate Myself for Loving You

Juliette Lewis (and the licks) -
Saw Juliette Lewis supporting Foo Fighters at Hyde Park and she is fantastic live. Here's one of my favourites - Love to Kill

Got to agree with you about St Vincent.
I don’t know if you could say they qualify as rock as such but for me:
Beth Gibbons:

Florence Welch:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-IJYYrixqaI
Some of their stuff I like, some I don’t but I think she has a great voice, plus she does justice to a Fleetwood Mac song.

That Florence video just doesn’t sound right to me, is it the key or is she out of tune?I don’t know if you could say they qualify as rock as such but for me:

To me I think it’s more that there are two vocal harmonies in the original and I know what you mean, if you compare it directly it does sound a bit off but on its own merit I think it’s a decent cover.parakitaMol. said:
