After the great thread celebrating women in rock, this thread simply asks... Who is or was the greatest frontman in rock?
I nominate the late great Freddie Mercury..

Thread can be closed. 100% has to be Freddie, the ultimate showman.

...of all time?

That would be a tough question to answer. What would the criteria be?

Best singing ability?
Most characterful?
Best Audience driver?
Longest serving?

‘Best” is just way to broad a term in my view.

My favourites for differing reasons are:

Bruce Dickinson
Brian Johnson
Paul Rodgers
Freddie Mercury
Ian Gillan
Danny Bowes
Ted Poley
Jeff Scott Soto
Robert Plant

I would be hard pushed to nominate “the Best” out of that lot.

What is annoying was that I missed this concert in Milton Keynes because I was in hospital having my appendix out. Thankfully got to see the last ever concert at Knebworth Park in 1986 that closed "The Magic Tour" (The last one Freddie ever did...!)

Pleasing to see Diamond Dave and Bruce Dickinson doing well in the first 10 seconds of the poll. Probably reflects our age and taste in music when we were in our teens more then anything else, but nonetheless, rock on. Where's Tommy Vance when you need him?

Can’t really help but agree with your picking Freddie to be honest.

The best? Dunno, but any of these three...

I'm lucky enough to have seen a few mentioned so far, I've always regretted turning down a ticket to see queen at knebworth (magic tour?).

Again I don't know how anyone can argue against Freddie Mercury, whether you liked the music or not.
