So I realise that it's very early to starting talking about this, we do not even know if air shows will happen next year, but I like to keep a positive outlook.
A couple of things worthy of note, firstly it's the 50th Anniversary of the first RIAT at North Weald in 1971, and secondly, the A10 Demo Team has already self confirmed

I'm in. For the first time in a few years my work schedule means I'll be back in the UK for it, so have booked tickets. Sadly no hospitality (I guess a lot rolled over from this year's cancellation?) but I have booked a nice motorhome hire for the weekend. Can't wait to see the A-10, didn't know about that. Haven't seen them since the 80's. Fingers crossed it all goes ahead, but with our vaccination program coming on nicely and a summer lull in COVID numbers I'm quietly optimistic.

Thread revival - anyone booked for 2022?

I've convinced MrsTheWife that she wouldn't enjoy two days of fast jets, so I'm taking the motorhome solo and booked three nights camping at the site next door - even better the 16th is my birthday !

Anyone else ?

Friday Saturday for me, but doubt i will last all day, my mates think i'm mad!

2019 was boring as hell with the o/h as the weather wasn't the best, flying solo again this time,. 2018 on my own was great as was roasting.

I’m going on the Saturday, went for the first time in 2019 and have been dying to get back every year. Very interested in seeing the Korean display team!

I went in 2015, 16 and 17. I thought each year the spectacle dulled. The aircraft felt further away from the crowd line and higher, which meant to me it seemed less exciting. Was going to go this year but apart from a couple of aircraft I’ve seen it all before at previous shows so decided against it. Hopefully for those going the USAF will confirm more aircraft and have some flying being as it’s their 75th anniversary.

Really if you are a certain age and can remember what a proper air show was like, you will scoff at any of this, 60 quid is insane for a few military combat displays, it really is a rip off. But then find me a major event like this that isnt.

But it will sell as there will always be people prepared to pay whatever for the chance to see a few planes fly about and take pictures.

I used to go to waddington air show every year growing up, up until around 2013 ish. I’m considering taking my family to RIAT. Would I be left disappointed?

Well I’ve just taken the plunge for a family day out after being reminded by this thread. I haven’t been for ages (15 - 20 years, maybe more?). It’s a fair trek from where we live and I’ve often been put off by the thought of the traffic. Anyway a bit of research has thrown up a local coach tour operator who will pick us up and drop us off 200 yards from our door step for a very reasonable fee. So I am going to let the coach driver take the strain, kick back, relax and enjoy a few drinks too.

We will only have general admission tickets and will arrive about 10.15/10.30h and stay till the end of the display. What would you experienced RIAT goers recommend bringing along for a comfortable day (eg. umbrellas, folding chairs, picnic rug, own alcohol?) and where would you suggest that we plant ourselves as a base location for the day?

They are further away, they've been getting progressively further away over the years since Greenham Common

The Americans sure knew how to put on a show that’s for sure. I have fond memories of Mildenhall, Upper Heyford, Alconbury and Lakenheath air shows back in the day. Todays air shows are sadly a mere shadow of what they were
