Hi I've part exchanged my old car for a new one. The dealer dropped new one off and took the old one away. After driving my old one away it broke down after 30 miles with a large oil leek. I had no idea there was any issues with my part ex what's everyone's rights and opinions on this matter

Was this the first time the selling dealership had any contact with your part ex, or had they already pre-inspected it?

They are the professionals in all this, they had the opportunity to inspect and they drove it 30 miles so it's their issue I'd say.

Agree and I'm in the trade.

There is no difference to you doing everything in person, the dealer looking at, evaluating and driving the car in person, checking paperwork, doing the deal, you picking up the new one and dropping the old one off and there being an issue 30 miles later.

It's their issue unless you mislead them.

Did you ask them where the oil leak was? Did it come from the bodged area which used a whole tube of instant gasket to seal and subsequently gave way when it got hot or was it a whole new leak somewhere else?..

There's a good documentary on tonight about Australia and their indigenous people. You know the ones, the Aubergines.
