Crikey, the real wailing (either way) is about to start. sonar

No, its on the Reuters banners etc. Try and look a tad harder than expect other posters to wipe your botty. Top of the page. The Beeb is notoriously late and gets most of its stuff from the paid for Bloomberg, Reuters feeds anyway.

Didn't expect this, I thought the govt would use covid to cover up the disruption of a no-deal.

I am really interested to see what is in it.

"So long, and thanks for all the fish", said an EU spokesman

I always find them behind the curve. They seem terribly unsure of reporting ‘live’ events until there are hard, confirmed facts. They could film three people lying dead on a street and still say ‘unconfirmed reports of one person injured’.....

I can think of a few who should empty the knife draw, and stay away from high buildings.

The link seems to be saying deal ‘imminent’ not agreed. Doesn’t sound like an agreement has actually been reached.

The Beeb has to think of The Mail, Telegraph and loads of PHers ready and waiting to slag them off if they get anything wrong.

EU sources have said a Brexit deal could be reached in the next 24 hours.
“There is an air of optimism,” one EU diplomat told @rtenews
.“The final touches are between [European Commission president Ursula] Von der Leyen and Boris [Johnson, the British prime minister].”
3:06 PM · Dec 23, 2020·Twitter Web App

2/ The source said the Commission president was in touch with EU leaders.

3/ “There’s a very strong push to get it done before Christmas. The idea that everyone comes back again on Sunday or Monday to start again… that will happen if necessary but there does seem to be a strong push to get it done before Christmas,” the diplomat said.

4/ It’s understood fisheries remains the final outstanding offer. The EU appears to be sticking to the most recent offer of a 25pc transfer of the value of fish caught by EU boats in UK waters to British fishermen.

5/ It's understood member states officials have already begun drafting legal texts which will allow for the formal acceptance by capitals of any deal, should agreement be reached

Even if it's true they still have some big hurdles to jump
