Do you power wash your car? I’ve bought the Autoglym Polar range so will try it today.

However, do you recommend using use the turbo lance or the adjustable spray lance?

I don’t want to damage my car.

I’ve a snow lance too, so that’ll be fun to use!

The turbo of course! Jokes aside think the general rule here is don't be a wally and use it too close to the car if it's particularly powerful, put some distance between you and the car on obvious areas e.g. stone chips, any direct hits on radiators or intercoolers, door seals etc.

What's. Turbo Lance?
One that's spins the water into a cone shape?
If so don't use that on a car it's designed for cleaning stone and concrete not soft car paint

Being a moron, I stuck my finger point blank at the jet of the dirt blaster lance. It fking smarts! Definitely don’t use that.

I use a K4 with the variable lance - it’s got several pressure settings though I’ve never had any issues using it on full blast (which, at an angle, is useful for getting rid of caked on dirt). I’d be wary using it perpendicular at point blank and at the edges of panels, mind.

You'll be fine pressure washing (Even with powerful machines) as long as you apply some common sense - Don't blast seals directly; avoid stone chips / lacquer peel areas - Only get close if you really need to but otherwise work from a "medium" range.

If you're washing the engine bay, Probably stick to a garden sprayer and avoid blasting electrical connections & air intakes, etc - Personally I usually just keep on top of the engine with a regular spray cleaner & wipe rather than hosing / pressurewashing it out.

A few years ago a chap came to my house to unblock my drain. He was missing a thumb and he told me that he once accidentally stuck it in front of his industrial pressure washer. It instantly turned his thumb to pulp. It wasn’t your average Karcher!

Did you give him the thumbs up?
