As suggested by Jon39 I am posting this as a new topic.

For those interested in Walter Hayes and his association with Aston Martin, here is a website put together by his son Richard. Thanks for your post.

I had previously read that Aston Martin approached Sir David Brown, to seek his permission before using the DB7 name.
Lovely to see the actual reply letter from Sir David.

There is some interesting Aston Martin history on the website you have highlighted.

What most people don’t know is that at the time of David Brown’s agreement to the use of the DB7 nomenclature on the new Aston, he had no right to make that decision on behalf of David Brown Engineering who held the rights to the DB mark!

Makes a nice story though.
