Manual 335i / 340i F series Touring wanted.

None around. Looking at about 20k mark.

Loads of 435/440i Gran Coupe Auto's around, couple of manuals.

Any GC/N55/N58 owners with any thoughts? Is the 4GC as big inside as the 3 touring?

Anyone looking to sell a 3L manual petrol touring?

Nice 440i here

Any common faults to look for?

I'm biding my time, this one is seat colour away from being ideal spec.

That's really nice. I love the tanzanite blue (and the leather biggrin).

From what I recall during my research, pay attention to the service history, as the oil filters can break up. I took my 9,900 mile 440i for an oil change immediately after purchase and the oil filter was already breaking up according to the indy.

Also check the coolant levels are good, as an issue with the oil cap meant they had a tendency to lose coolant. It was an easy fix from what I believe.

Other than that, the engines themselves seem pretty hardy.

I am tempted! I think the piano black inserts should be alu, too many finishes inside IMO. I prefer the brushed or hex alu inserts. Brightens the interior and more resiliant.

Guessing that'll be 2k to change at BMW!

Everyone's different, but for me it's got a lot of things going for it - lovely interior and exterior combo, tons of kit including the HUD, and even has the MPPSK. It's a lot of car for 22 large.

However, I personally wouldn't buy something that didn't have all of my must have specs. If the interior colour/spec is one of your deal breakers, then I'd hold firm and wait for the right one to come up.

That is a very high spec - the extended leather (dash etc) is extremely rare and the Tanzanite is a lovely colour.

I’m not into fiddling/changing cars from how they left the factory, but if the piano black wood is the only thing holding you back, I’d be tempted to have it removed and wrapped in a brushed aluminium (or whatever you like) by someone reputable who knows what they’re doing. It won’t be very expensive.

I must say however, I have the piano black and think it goes nice with the white leather in mine. It was a £375 option IIRC.

Yeah the spec is brilliant. Had piano black inserts in my e92 330d which went well with black leather and silver paint. Piano+Oyster+Alu all in 1 interior is 1 shade too many IMO. Might look ok in the flesh. Won't be seeing it anytime soon due to lockdown tho it seems.

What effect is this having on used car prices? Going down? Desirable models going up?

It also has 4 owners, in 4 years the recent only had it 4 months, read like a trader's ad, despite the driveway pics. And has dropped a few hundred quid in a matter of days. A bit too keen to offload? *Excessive* under trays was a weird MOT advisory.
Spec. was fantastic, really believe you need Adaptive Suspension; if you're coming from a M you won't want to drive in comfort throttle all the time, whilst the sport suspension (standard) is neither sporty as M or super comfortable as comfort. Adaptive gives a perfect balance.
Plus upgraded brakes, if you relish spirited driving, as these are heavy.

It wouldn’t be for me; I’m looking at 4 & 6 series at a similar price but the 4 received the lci just after this car (you can tell easiest by the rear lights) and the post lci has much better reviews following the changes to the suspension/camber/track width.

I have a 335i f31 that I might be tempted to sell. It is a 2015 version, but does have 68,000 miles on the clock.

Is LCI 2018 onwards?

For the extra money I'd probably rather save a bit of cash and get the run flats off for PS4s. Will probably make as much of a positive difference (runflats ruin ride and tracking on UK roads imo).

And I really don't like the digital dash. I'd rather have physical dials and HUD, more legible.

I think lci is from 2016 onwards when the 335i was replaced with the 340i.

Ah ok. Yes looking at 2016> 440i primarily now anyway, would like a touring but well specced ones are much rarer or overpriced.

Proper tires make a phenomenal difference to the F31.
I was surprised , despite making same change on a E92.

Have done it all my e9x (and never had a puncture either in about 100k miles, i must have eagle vision).

The only e9x I didn't do it was the e92 M3 which, unsurpsingly, doesn't have run flats fitted as standard.

My current e91 320d now has a Bilstein/Eiback Sport kit on all 4 corners with MPS4S. I'm not kidding when I say it handles closer to the M3 than it did before.. and the ride quality is firmer but way better than the standard 320d M Sport susp.

There were some upgrades in 2018 such as touchscreen nav. I believe they fell at the same time as the introduction of the PPF so those later cars can't be fitted with the MPPSK.
