all depends on this next two weeks....
if on the 10th of january...
No real increase in deaths to match the increase in infections being experianced we will keep going doing what we are doing and they will step up vaccinations. bit more restrictions and more caution around the vulnerable.
the bad bit, if...
Massive uptick in deaths, infection younger people increases and we start seeing them lose the battle, then I think we will see quite a few changes.
Big push on vaccinations.
proper lockdown.
More use of the army - no not a military law situation but they would be brought into assist with enforcing compliance with the lockdowns.
the reality of this virus taking off and cauisng issues would not be worth thinking about. and hopefully it doesnt happen.

No chance. 12m over 65s + NHS/care workers + those who have vulnerable conditions. We've managed 600k doses in December. You'd hope the rate will ramp up significantly, but I can't see it being close to making a difference by April.
I would not be surprised to see Tier4 last until the end of February, possibly longer if they make kids go back to school / uni etc.
We'll still be using masks/social distancing in a years time.

Astra Zeneca vaccine announced within the first week of 2021 if not beforehand. All go, go, go to get the vaccine around the UK at GP surgeries but in the meantime everyone in Tier 4 until March. April tiers 1, 2, 3 will happen whilst the R number goes back down (subject to how effective the vaccines are). Other countries will follow suit. Summer 2021 - more normality and summer holidays will happen. Zoom calls will slowly end people will return back to the offices over the next couple of years.

Optimistic. I reckon we will still be lockdown through 2021 as they continue to find new strains and re lockdowns.I can see the tier system lasting until at least April and some sort of restrictions into the summer. We can't sustain this cycle of open close open close another year though, there'll be very little left if this carries on, social distancing isn't sustainable long term either, a lot of industries can't operate profitably at only 50% capacity

The vaccines won’t be allowed to fail, they’ll be pushed as a success regardless. Cases and deaths will steadily reduce naturally but governments will spin it so they can say that the lockdowns worked and saved millions. Data and statistics will be manipulated accordingly.
Western countries retain restrictions until May when we’re all ‘released’ - albeit with social distancing and masks. Combination of the vaccine and natural immunity mean things are relatively normal by the end of the summer. Winter ‘21 COVID deaths are high but tolerated (and the figures massaged to be acceptable).
Asian countries and countries that were ‘successful’ in keeping cases down realise the vaccine isn’t that great and lack natural immunity from exposure to the virus. They maintain the stringent restrictions on travel with PCR tests and quarantines mandatory.
Economically it’s a complete disaster, although no one really notices as the national debts skyrocket and the can gets kicked down the road. Lots of pubs close. Taxes go up.
