Hi all. I'm after a new pair of boots. They will be mainly used for commuting (10,000 miles a year) so need to be protective, hard wearing, comfortable and waterproof. I usually spend £150 or less on boots and they are trashed within a year. I've had 6 pairs in the last 6 years. Are Daytona boots worth the extra money? Ive got my eye on a pair of strive gore-tex. Thanks.
My last two pairs of boots have been Daytonas. They fit me well and are comfortable both on and off the bike. They're Gore Tex and are waterproof in all the conditions I've used them in.
My first set did over 3 years and over 50,000 miles and were only replaced as a result of my Bambi encounter.
Worth the money? That's a hard one to answer but if I had to buy replacement boots at the moment they would likely be Daytonas.

Yes, I think they're great, really well made if a bit on the pricey end. I'm on my second pair of Evo GORE-TEX boots.
The first pair lasted 10 years and about 85,000 miles before they started leaking. They weren't really worn out, the goretex liner sprung a small leak which I'm sure a bit of tape would have sorted.

That was his annual budget on cheaper boots. He'll be quids in with a pair of Daytonas.I have some Daytona boots, the Road-Star ones.
I cannot comment on the longevity of them as I've only had then since June, but two things stand out for me with them-
1) They are properly waterproof, I've been in some real heavy rain and not a drop has got through them, much better than my previous 'waterproof' boots.
2) The are available in normal, and wide fit sizing, for me, this permitted me to get a real comfy fit, something which has always been a compromised with other brands of boot that don't have the wide sizing options.
Thanks
Matt

i cannot find the original image but i crashed in a pair
foot effectively was the crash bung - saved the frame/engine casings being written off i guess
12 months later no after effects of the accident
otherwise consider altberg
