Changed a few bits and pieces and ......WOW!

A couple of weeks ago I fitted some new bits and bats as follows:

ACT induction kit c/w K and N filter.

8.5mm Magnacor leads

ACT resistorless plug shrouds

"Flame Thrower" coil from Demon Tweeks.

The difference in performance is very noticable. The engine is much more responsive, its seems torquier, acceleration is much crisper, it sounds slightly louder (I don't know why that should be), and there is no hesitation what so ever.

Money well spent IMHO.

What exactly does the ACT induction kit that you fitted consist of?
Is it the enlarged plenum with carbon fibre trumpets?

No mate. It replaces the flexible ductwork between the plenum and the air filter. The kit consists of a rubber bend that fits between the AFM and the plenum, a longish piece of rubber duct that fits between the AFM and the bulkhead, a funky shaped piece of rubber duct that fits between the bulkhead and the filter, a K & N filter, a short piece of stainless steel pipe, a piece of ceramic cloth heat shield, and a hand full of jubilee clips. Looks a lot better than the standard TVR setup. There are some photos on here somewhere.

Less than £400 all up. Its not only made the car a lot more resposive but the engine bay looks a lot tidyier. As I fitted this lot all at the same time, I'm not sure which bit has made the difference.

Blimey, as if it weren't fast enough before! There aren't many cars that wheelspin in 3rd!

As I am a complete computer numpty I don't know how to do it, but I will have a go later.

Great car colour Tacoma. Much better than those annoying yellow ones that can't keep up.

How much was the coil and how does it differ technicaly from the standard item? higher voltage output etc.

All sounds very interesting, was certainly thinking of doing the intake pipes, got something else to think about now.

I think it was £40 odd. It was recommended to me by a guy I was talking to at a TVRCC meet. Apparently it give 15% extra power output to the plugs. It also looks good with the chrome plating.

Thats 15% extra coil output, not 15% extra BHP though

Sure, but as i dont know the condition of my coil (although the car runs ok) it might be an idea to breath a bit of fresh life into the motor. with a reliable high tension spark.

Ntel, any idea what the part/order number is?

I wonder how this compares to the Bosch coil (as recommended and sold by Tim 'the guru' @ ACT)...
