F07/F23 steering wheel compatibility?
Discussion
A few years ago I had a 2013 F07 530d GT, and during the course of ownership I toyed with the idea of retrofitting a heated steering wheel, going as far as buying a second hand heated wheel off eBay and a switch for the car.
I never got around to fitting it and eventually got rid of the car, and now years later I have a 2013 F23 M135i.
The two wheels look identical, other than the paddle shifts on the back of the M135i wheel.
Does anyone know if the two wheels are similar enough to be compatible? Could I take the airbag out of the M135i wheel and transplant it in? And how do the paddles attach? Could they be detached to the M135i wheel and attached to the 5-series one?
Help appreciated - even if it’s just a “no, what are you playing at?”

im 98% sure the f07 steering wheels are only compatible with the f01 7 series and f10/11 5 series. you would need a steering wheel from either a 12 or 3 series bmw.
the good news is that the lower range steering wheels are usually cheaper, its just a matter of finding one on ebay. best to get one with paddles built in as makes it easier as i believe the control module is different.
