Shares agent, subscription service for hot tips
Discussion
I am new to share trading, taking some gambles during this year and they are doing ok. I opened both a HL and Revolut account to try and understand different interfaces and charges.
My question is around subscription services, for "professional" tips and advice.
I don't have the time to have my ear to the ground daily but would like to follow people that are.
I have come across such popular American sites but not sure if I should follow?
https://www.benzinga.com/
https://www.zacks.com/
Does anyone here use or could recommend someone that genuinely performs well, I don't mind paying for the right advice.
Thanks

Maybe my question didn't make sense.
Who can I follow, or pay to receive sensible advice?
I have only been trading for a few months, with reasonable success (probably up net £30k) but believe I have been lucky more than anything else.
I have followed a number of people simply giving advice on Youtube but the terminology of some areas still goes over my head.
Any learning resources much appreciated.
Thanks.

I am in the same boat as you with £10k profit in 4 months, more by luck and early purchase of some Tesla and miners. These Youtube channels all talk about ascending wedges and triangles, all very confusing. O Who can I follow, or pay to receive sensible advice?

Exactly, there must be a few in amongst the many that make sense or have a beginners tutorial somewhere?I have seen lots but not sure who to trust. Maybe it's all top secret which is why no one is replying to me.

For useful and entertaining chat on stock ideas, a bit of TA, a smattering of bigger market picture, you could do worse than listen to the Donald & Dave near-weekly podcasts https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-donald-d...
They have no axe to grind, I believe, just enthusiastic and successful short/medium term traders. The dialogue format for me works better than a single bod droning on. They both have active twitters where they post charts of what they're interested in. Mix seems to be around 2/3:1/3 UK/US stocks. Easiest to start with the latest podcasts and work back in time.

Investopedia website might help a bit.
Look up charting turorials as well
Charting (talking about MACD, EMA, Bollinger bands, etc) is a Dark Art - not saying it is incorrect - but you need to be wired up a special way to know all of the different bands and channels and wedges that they talk about.
Well done for making 40k - what is that as a percentage? Dependent on when you went into the market, it may be awaesome or just average.
And good luck on your search for a fund manager - remember past history does not mean they will win going forward.

IMO you'd be best to take out a sub to Money Week magazine. Delivered every week, they digest all the financial media for you and present things of interest. Good info for beginners and old lags alike. They don't talk down to beginners and do lots of articles and asides explaining things for the uninitiated. £108 per year well spent.
There are a huge number of tipsters who will gladly take money from you, their performance "varies". They can all make money buying on mega dips like we experienced recently, making it over a longer timeframe isn't so easy.

The people that genuinely perform well don't tend to let others in on their secret. Why would they?My question is around subscription services, for "professional" tips and advice.

To get the mugs in to pump up the illiquid stock for them?
Arguably the best way to invest in penny shares is to spend your time learning who the best pump and dumpers are and to dive in just after they start and exit long before they stop. Once anyone actually starts believing the rubbish they're spouting then you've stopped being an investor and become an acolyte to be harvested for others' wealth.

For penny shares you need to embrace the reality that it's a bent, rubbish market populated by gamblers, shills and liars and then seek to invest on the back of that. It's important to not forget that tipsters are just the retail gambling industry's version of horoscope vendors. Self taught, rarely educated people who make their living from selling their words to the weak and lazy not from following their own words.
The only wealthy chartist you'll ever meet will be the one who has succeeded in selling their product never following it.
Spot the rampers and their ramps, that's the research that you need to do, the target business is irrelevant. It will just be whatever is most susceptible to a pump and dump at that point in time, then seek to enter before the retail gamblers dive in and start pumping it up in social media for their own personal gain and exit long before it runs out of steam and the professional rampers have exited their positions and moved on to the next sale.
You can't really be a legitimate investor until you appreciate how illegitimate the market is.

Thank you, as a percentage, I just checked my HL account and its 180% overall. Separately I have made 1100% on NIO but that's a bit of an anomaly. (although based on yesterday's announcement partnering with NVIDIA it could go up at least double again)Look up charting turorials as well

I seem to have done better with engineering and tech-related industries which is my background, I suppose understanding what is actually possible in the real world helps slightly.
