Hi All,

A Z4 Coupe could be a good daily for me, 90% of my miles I'm on my own, occasionally I have to carry MrsVX and our Westie.

My questions are, does the bulkhead behind the seats remove at all or is it structural?

If it doesn't come out, how high is it? I'd like him to be able to see over it.

Lastly, is there any tie-downs in the boot area so I can clip a harness in for him?

Thanks in advance, all help gratefully received!

The bulkhead is not removable.

I doubt a Westie would be able to see over it.

I don’t think there are any tie down points (I sold my Z4C in July and I’m embarrassed to say I can’t really remember!).

However, don’t let any of this put you off as they are brilliant cars!

As TR4man has said the bulkhead is fixed.

Retracting the luggage cover leaves a gap of about 20cm between the headrests, but that's probably too high up for a Westie.

And despite being on my 3rd E86 in over 6 years I haven't looked at the tie-down points. rolleyes

Our Westie travels in the front footwell. They don’t like big spaces so the boot isn’t ideal.

Thanks all, our Westie is quite the opposite, loves to lounge but most importantly see out (to greet his public, it would appear...)

Might have to look elsewhere, a TT may be a better bet.

Thanks again!

Sticks.

I'm on my second TT as a DD now, a Mk2 then a 3. They've worked quite well. Not as satisfying as a Z4 but it's surprising how much you can get in it if you need to and how easily they cover the miles.

I've got a Z4 coupe and my GF has a TTS and we have a small jack Russell chihuahua Cross (dont get one its a terrible combo of territorial door guarding high energy levels and mega yap levels -shes amazing but Jesus she's not easy!?!)

TTS is great for the dog as easy to put her in a car travel thing in the back.

In the z4 shes on the seat if its just me or in the floor well if the two of us are driving. Can't imagine she would like the boot much

They are about twice the size of a Westie and could probably see over the bulkhead.

I have a dog carrier that sits in the back of my coupe, hound loves it. The boot lip is high-ish though so I have to lift her in and out.

If it’s just about being able to see out in any direction, retracting the boot cover reveals a huge amount of glass?

He's normally happy laying down, but I would like him to be able to see over the bulkhead if he needs reassuring at any point...

...no probs lifting him in over the lip, lazy stubborn thing gets an occasional carry when he decides to put the brakes on while we're out walking anyway!

Any chance someone could nip out and measure it?

Not right now, it's flipping freezing!!!

Looking at the pic above, I guess I could make a raised platform for him?

Really would be grateful for a measurement...

I’d love to help but I’m an ex-Z4C owner.

Hopefully someone else will come along with the measurements.

Hopefully he'd get the same answer as I'm on that too. laugh

The top of the bulkhead is curved so it isn't simple to measure but I checked mine today and it's 520mm above the bootfloor (give or take 10mm).

The gap between the top of the bulkhead and the roof on the centre, lower section is about 140mm but is much less at the sides because of the seat-backs.

You can also see in the photo above that the boot-floor has a step in it about half-way back. Sadly I didn't measure that but it's about 30/40mm.

Thank you for doing that! He's asleep now, so I'll measure him up in the morning!

I'm fairly sure that's miles too high, but maybe a raised platform would make the difference? Easy to knock up and cover, like half a sub cabinet?

Thanks again

To be honest the gap is a bit like a letter-box slit, but hopefully a raised platform would work. thumbup
