997.2 Limited Volume With iPhone
Discussion
Thing 1 - I seem to recall one of the option screens for the inputs is also a volume preset screen - unhelpfully, the display doesn't show anything.
Thing 2 - ditch the ipod, get a 30 pin Bluetooth adaptor and mount the phone off the middle vent, within finger-flick reach of the steering wheel. No more loading an iPod, instead you can have your favourite streaming service. I have a Layen i-Sync for my Android phone. You will however lose the connection with the steering wheel controls if you have them. But there is a kind of magic in finally having fully bluetooth phone+audio in a 997. Make you wonder why Porsche only bought the phone functionality and not the audio.

I apologise for being techno-hopeless! Pls could you post a picture of your 30 pin adapter with your phone?
I’d love to have my phone music in 997.2
Thx in anticipation
Here's the Bluetooth adaptor, I bought a spare at one pointI’d love to have my phone music in 997.2

The phone mount is a two part solution from Brodit https://www.brodit.co.uk It's not cheap however it is rock solid and in the correct place by my left hand, reducing the time my eyes are off the road.
I didn't get the Brodit power lead, I wanted something low profile in the centre armrest which didn't dig into my forearm. I went with a very small but powerful Aukey 2 USB adaptor https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00M6Q83B4 and a down-angled USB to micro B cable which is really hard to find - eventually got one here https://www.partsdata.eu/usb-2.0/usb-cables-with-m...
You'll want to find a similar cable for your Lightning connection to the phone if you're duplicating the setup.
I hope that's all helpful.
Not sure if this helps, but I’ve been using use a Y connector (actually the old style iPod connector with a lightning adapter) on my 997.2 without problems for past 5 years. Is plugged into both 3.5mm jack and the usb. I only use Aux input on the pcm, volume is controlled solely by pcm, and the usb is just for charging. iPod option in pcm has never really worked for me.. Phone is also connected to Bluetooth for phone calls.
Try getting a Bluetooth 3.5mm Aux USB receiver. Not sure if I’m allowed to post links on here but there is one available on amazon under Aukey and Firefly. There used to be one that was produced by Anker called Soundsync which I personally use but I can’t seem to find it available anymore.
The reciever will plug into your Aux and USB slots. Select the CD/Aux input under PCM, connect your phone bluetooth to the receiver and you can play music via bluetooth, the USB is needed to provide the unit with power. You can then set volume via your iphone and also increase the volume further via PCM. If you dont want visible cables you can hide this all away in your arm-rest as your phone will now be connected wirelessly.
Helpfully you still keep the bluetooth functionality of calls on the PCM system also.

Annoyingly although it connects to Bluetooth the limited volume is the same as the cable and no where near loud enough to listen to (or as the radio).
Not sure where to go next.
I found my post 5 years ago on altering the AUX volume input, look for the discussion on inserting a CD and access to the AUX OPTION menuNot sure where to go next.

Amazing - we have volume - both with the Y cable and also Bluetooth.
One final question.
How do I charge the phone whilst using the Bluetooth and the Y cable takes up the only USB port!!
Worst case I will have a cable running through the car along the transmission tunnel.
Fantastic!! Glad it was helpful. One final question.

Charging - that's why I gave the slimline USB charger and down angle cable. Still a cable running along the tunnel and up, but not in an intrusive way.

No idea why anyone would bother running cables in 2021, you can get dirt cheap bluetooth aux adapters that just sit hidden in your armrest and you stream to wirelessly. I paid £15 some 4 years ago and works flawlessly every time

Passenger footwell on the right hand side should have a 12V plug although this might have been an option knowing Porsche. Just use a 12V to USB and plug your usb charging cable through there hides away quite well and doesn’t get in the way like the lighter socket behind the gearstick. One final question.
