Funny you say that actually. A few years ago a relative was suffering from some kind of reaction to a chemical they worked with. In order to help them find out more about it, my father brought home some toxicity hazard manual from work. I had a look through it and judging by what was in there almost every chemical imaginable is harmful - INCLUDING water!

I think some potential risks in life are greatly overstated.

Notice that it is a U.S. report. Manganese (usually from deep borehole sources) is removed from U.K. water at the treatment plant by a coagulant early in the process and prior to further treatment. As reguards drinking water, the U.K. treatment plants are very good and can show the U.S. ones a thing or two..... be happy, don't worry.

The truth is that you're MORE at risk, from YOU, not cleaning your shower head regularly with bleach to kill any possible "Legionaires" bugs whooping it up inside the nice moist steamy interior.
